UAB Kelprojektas contributed to one of the largest private investor projects in Lithuania

By order of UAB Vakarų medienos grupės, UAB Kelprojektas prepared a railway transport technical project for the newly built wood chipboard factory on the territory of Akmenė Free Economic Zone (FEZ). In February 2019, a building permit was already issued. It is planned to use the railway tracks provided for in the project solutions to transport and load wood chips, resins, round wood, MPD boards for the maintenance of the factory.

“From the initial transfer of the idea of the solution to the computer model to the building permit, all this has been created by the joint forces and knowledge of the project team. We are pleased to contribute to this project important for Lithuania” said Construction Project Manager of UAB Kelprojektas Mindaugas Griauzdė.

The project designed the connection of the access railway to the section of infrastructure Alkiškiai-Karpėnai managed by AB Lietuvos Geležinkeliai, and the development of access and loading railways in the FEZ factory area. Total length of the designed railway tracks is 3.05 km.

Vakarų medienos grupė, one of the leaders of the Lithuanian wood industry, is currently developing in the Akmenė Free Economic Zone (FEZ), where a new wood chipboard factory is being built. By 2023, EUR 140 million will be invested and 1 000 new jobs will be created here.
