Kelprojektas to engineer the railway stretch of international significance between Lithuania and Belarus

Kelprojektas signed the contract with AB Lietuvos geležinkeliai for the performance of engineering and supervision of building project of the railway stretch between Lithuania and Belarus. Total value of project works amounts to 7 million litas excluding VAT. Kelprojektas won the tender, announced by Lietuvos geležinkeliai, together with UAB Fima.

In pursuance of the contract, the specialists of Kelprojektas will engineer Vilnius-Kena railway stretch, access and service roads, bridges, viaducts, and platforms. Moreover, Kelprojektas will carry out topographic, geological, and territory planning works.

According to A. Medžiaušis, this stretch is very important internationally, since considerable amounts of freight takes place in this segment. Renovation of the railway stretch between Lithuania and Belarus will include the extension of the station roads, which will enable attending more of heavy freight trains in this segment. The completion of the engineering and building project supervision works is planned by mid-2015.

Kelprojektas has already successfully implemented the reconstruction project of Marijampolė – Kazlų Rūda – Kaunas stretch of the international railway line Rail Baltica. In 2012 it was recognized as the best product of Lithuania.

The company actively contributes to the modernization of transport infrastructure of both Lithuania and foreign countries. Together with the Estonian consortium in 2013 Kelprojektas won the tender to carry out the engineering works in Rail Baltica stretch between Harju, Rapla, and Pärnu Districts in Estonia. Total value of project works amounts to 7.48 million EUR. The tender was won together with another three Estonian companies – Reaalprojekt, EA RENG, and Hendrikson & Ko.
